At Maxcel Lubricants, we design and formulate our lubricant blends using the finest quality if base stocks, additive packages and viscosity modifiers.
Our base oils and extremely pure as they undergo the hydrogenation technology in which sulfur and aromatics are removed using hydrogen under high pressure. This provides best solubility and good low temperature properties.
The additive packages and Viscosity modifiers we use in our blends consists of the following: (Functions Listed)
Wear
There are 2 types of wear:
1) Two Body Wear: Where primary engine components come in contact with each other it results into wear.
Our Anti-wear agents control these wear.
2) Three Body Wear: When a foreign particle(eg) Swarf, soot or another solid contamination, enters into two primary engine components it results into wear.
To control this type of wear, we add Dispersants and Detergents to our blends.
OXIDATION
If the lubricant oxidizes, it makes the lubricant thick which results into issues of pumpability, fuel economy and ultimately oil starvation.
Oxidation also causes corrosion and deposits around the engine.
To avoid oxidation, at Maxcel, we use Anti-oxidants like Phenols and Amines.
ACID NEUTRALIZATION
Acids are produced by oxidation as well as by fuel combustion. These acids affect both engines and environment.
Acid neutralization is enchanced by addition of basicity in the form of overbased detergents and to a lesser degree, by dispersants.
BLACK SLUDGE
Black Sludge is a soft grease like deposit around the engine, including the sump and valve-deck.
This is formed because of interactions between lubricants, fuel and combustion by products and is heavily influenced by engines design, climate, drive cycle, oil drain interval and local fuel quality.
If the sludge blocks the oil pipe, then the resulting oil starvation causes catastrophic damage to the engine.
At Maxcel lubricants, black sludging is controlled by adding Dispersants & Antioxidants to the blends.
PISTON DEPOSITS
In modern Diesel engines where the combustion temperatures are very high it leads to deposits formation on the Piston.
Piston deposits formation is strongly influenced by the type of base oil used and also by the selection of viscosity modifier.
SOOT INDUCED VISCOSITY CONTROL
Lubricants with high levels of soot (eg) more than 3% Mass can show dramatic increase in viscosity.
Our formulations control this viscosity increase as we add Dispersants to our blends which maintains its function in the engine when it contains soot.
